The Gili Islands (Trawangan, Air and Meno) can’t be reached from the airport directly. You first travel by road to Bangsal Harbour, in the north-west of Lombok, and take a boat from there.
The route in short
- Lombok Airport to Bangsal Harbour: about 90 minutes by road, 60 km.

Your options
1. Private car, fixed price. We charge 400,000 Rp per car (not per person), for people and luggage together. Share it with fellow travellers and the cost per person drops. You are met at the airport and driven to the harbour. See all airport transfer prices.
2. Stay in Mataram first. If your flight lands late, sleep in Mataram and continue in the morning. Mataram to Bangsal is 50 minutes and 27 km, 180,000 Rp per car. Bangsal transfer prices.
3. Other transport. You can also arrange a taxi or other transport yourself. Agree the price before you get in.
Tips
- Check the boat times before you book the car. Boats don’t run all night, so plan to reach the harbour well before the last departure.
- Travelling heavy? Gili roads are sandy and have no cars, so big bags are awkward there. Leave them with us in Mataram and take only a small bag. Luggage storage in Mataram, from 50k Rp/day.
- Coming back? We also drive from Bangsal to the airport, or to Mataram, Kuta and other places. Book the return when you book the trip out.
